What Triple Ground Mulch Actually Means

Finer, darker, tighter. The product we install on every job, and why.

Ground Three Times, and It Shows

Most mulch you'll get delivered in Western New York is single or double ground: chunky, stringy, and uneven. Triple ground mulch goes through the grinder three times, so the texture comes out fine and uniform.

That difference is not cosmetic. It lays flatter, and it locks together so it stays in the bed instead of washing out onto your lawn after the first hard rain. It gives you that smooth dark finished look across the whole bed, and as it ages it breaks down into the soil instead of sitting on top in chunks.

Why We Only Install Triple Ground

We're called Magic Mulch. The product is the whole point. Every install we do is premium triple ground hardwood mulch, no exceptions, because the finish quality is visibly different the day we leave and it is still visibly different months later.

Warm and eye-catching against brick and stone.

    How Much Do You Need?

One yard of mulch covers about 100 square feet at a 3 inch depth. A typical suburban front bed package runs 5 to 10 yards.

    Frequently Asked Questions

One more pass through the grinder. Finer, more uniform texture that lays flatter, knits together, and looks darker and cleaner. Once you see them side by side it's hard to go back.

Quality dyed hardwood mulch uses iron oxide and carbon based colorants, the same pigment families used to color concrete. Once it's down and dry it's considered safe around plants and pets.

All mulch mellows in the sun over a season. Triple ground holds its color well, and black and dark brown keep their depth the longest. A fresh top-up each spring keeps beds looking new.

About 3 inches is the sweet spot: enough to suppress weeds and hold moisture without smothering plants. We keep it pulled back from stems and trunks.
